RZRs have long been known for their strong and consistent performances in the high altitude environments of Alaska.
This year they’ve gotten a little more consistent as the season went on and they’ve gone 2-0-1 against the likes of FC Dallas, Atlanta United and FC Dallas themselves.
RZs last game against Atlanta was a memorable 2-1 win in which the RSL won both legs 1-0, but they fell 2-3 on penalties to FC Dallas in a tie in the first leg.
With that loss RZS took a 1-1 tie with FC Dallas on Saturday and it was their first loss in the playoffs since the 2015 season.
But they got back on track to give themselves a chance at redemption against Atlanta.
The RSL defense was not as strong as it was in their last match against Atlanta, but their attack was far more dynamic and dangerous.
The attacking play from RZr was not only dynamic, but it was also dangerous, as the RZrs team played the most aerial balls in the league over the course of the game.
RSL’s most dangerous goal came in the 22nd minute of the first half.
The backline had the ball in the box but not in the penalty area.
Rzr were able to take advantage of the slow down in the backline to put a shot on frame.
On a similar note, FC Dallas came into Saturday’s match with a lot of confidence.
Their game plan was very simple.
The Dallas defense had to make a lot more interceptions and pass the ball well because they knew that they would have to defend well against the back line and keep possession of the ball for a long time.
RPS was able to capitalize on Dallas turnovers and take advantage.
RCL scored a late goal, but the game could not have been played better.
In the 72nd minute RCL had the second most shots of any team in the tournament.
The RSL attack has looked better and better in the second half of the season, especially with the addition of Jair Benitez and Kelyn Rowe.
Both of them have looked better since the start of the campaign and Beniteg is showing signs of life.
Benitec is making a big impact as the lone striker for RSL.
He is scoring more goals than any other player in the field and is also providing an outlet for RCL’s attack.
In addition, Rowe and Benites play very similar roles in the midfield.
Rowe was often the first to get involved in the attacking game, but he was often held back by the defense and was also missing a lot.
Rowe’s goal against FC Dallas was the highlight of the night.
Rowe got a nice ball into the box where RSL were on the breakaway and scored his first goal of the year.
RCL will need to be careful not to overcommit on corners and get too much credit for it, especially if they are going to be playing a team with a similar style.
But this is a good start for RZRS as they try to build on their impressive run of form.
They have to get better at taking risks and they need to stay focused on the game, which is something they haven’t done well in the past.
RCS has shown they can get the job done.
They had two more shots on target than RSL in the 90th minute of their first game in the season.
As a team, RCS will have to be patient in order to build off this performance.
They need to keep working hard and have fun in order for them to take this opportunity and grow into a top team.
